If the snow conditions in the Mondseeland are not sufficient, you don't have to travel far: in the neighbouring district of Thalgau am Thalgauberg, there are several skating and classic trails. For additional cross-country skiing fun, you can also enjoy a flood-lit trail there in the evening.
You can find ideal cross-country skiing conditions in Faistenau in the Salzburg federal region. From Mondsee, you should allow for approx. 25 minutes to get there, but great trails will await you there with the promise of snow. The trail network offers altogether approx. 55 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails. The infrastructure also covers a cross-country ski school (Nordic Fun), which along with the normal course programme, also offers the chance to try out the biathlon.
