Ice sports in the Mondseeland
Ice skating, curling, ice hockey
Skating in a circle to music, teaching the children how to ice skate or playing ice hockey together: moving on the smooth ice surface is fun for most people. Plan a sporty excursion with the family or try out curling – in the Mondseeland, you have multiple opportunities to do so.
Mondsee Ice Rink: ice skating in any weather
Regardless of the weather, you will find the chance to go ice skating in the covered ice rink in Mondsee at any time. The ice rink is open from approx. mid-November to the beginning of March. Children and those young at heart will enjoy themselves on the ice there. Naturally, you can also rent out ice skates.
Curling has always been a simple and fun activity in the cold season. Take part with the locals – the rules of this ice sport can be explained in just a few words. The one who comes closest to the tee (rubber disc = goal) with their curling stone wins the round.
Curling can be played indoors or on specially sprayed tracks. One curling track including rental equipment is available, for example, at Gasthof Hotel Aichingerwirt in St. Lorenz am Mondsee. Please note that reservation is required: please contact the Aichingerwirt (Tel.: +43 6232 2130-0) before your visit.
Pure winter idyll in the Mondseeland
Cross-country skiing, skiing, winter and snowshoe hikes, sledding, ice skating: the idyllic winter landscape in the Mondseeland allows you to have fun in many ways. Since the Salzkammergut isn't involved with the alpine winter sports regions, here nature is especially well preserved. Those who therefore love the wintry idyll between mountains and lakes and appreciate the proximity to Salzburg will get their money's worth here. Here, a simple winter walk on the lake promenade in Mondsee is also an enjoyable experience. Afterwards, stop with us at Hotel Krone, directly in the centre of Mondsee. With a sauna area, excellent cuisine and a warm team of hosts, you will spend a cosy winter holiday here by one of the most beautiful lakes in the Salzkammergut.
